FAQ

Ask a question

How much experience do you have?

I have over a decade of experience in pet and house sitting. In addition, I’ve worked as a cat fosterer and have rescued numerous cats and kittens from the streets abroad, further enriching my expertise in feline care and welfare.

Are you insured?

Yes, I am insured with specialised pet sitting insurance, and I am happy to provide you with my certificate for your peace of mind.

What’s involved in the booking process?

The booking process begins with contacting me via email, phone, text or WhatsApp to discuss your needs. Next, we’ll schedule an initial meeting at your home (or via video call for remote clients) to familiarise ourselves, review your pet’s routines, walk your dog should you wish to show me their usual route, and discuss logistics, including key exchange. We’ll then agree on visit dates and times, and I’ll provide you with a form to complete before the sit begins.

Which areas do you cover?

For pet sitting and dog walking, my services extend to Thirsk and the neighbouring areas, with a reminder that trips beyond 3 miles from my location in Sowerby will include an extra fuel fee of £0.75 per mile. For house sitting, I’m available to travel throughout the UK, and the same mileage charges will apply to my round trip.

Do you do house sits overseas?

Yes, I do offer house sitting services overseas. However, I kindly request a contribution towards my travel expenses, which may vary depending on factors such as the location, duration of the sit and specific expenses involved. Typically, this contribution covers costs such as flights, transportation to and from the airport, and any additional expenses related to the sit. The exact percentage or amount will be discussed and agreed upon between us before confirming the house sit.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel your booking with at least 24 hours’ notice before the scheduled sit begins, you are entitled to a full refund. However, if the cancellation occurs with less than 24 hours’ notice, no refunds will be issued. If you need to change your booking dates before your departure, I will make every effort to accommodate your request, although I cannot guarantee my availability for the new dates. Please note that if you return home earlier than planned, I regret that I will be unable to refund any unused visits.

What are your payment terms?

For pet sits and dog walks, full payment is due by the latest the day before the sit starts, and I accept payment via bank transfer, PayPal, or cash. For house sitting, a non-refundable 50% deposit is required at the time of booking, with the remaining balance due by the latest the day before the sit begins.

What kind of updates can I expect from you?

I make it a priority to keep you informed and connected with your pet’s well-being. I’ll send regular updates, complete with photos and videos, typically via WhatsApp during each visit. In case of any concerns, rest assured I’ll promptly notify you, and I also request your veterinarian’s details on the form you fill out. For house sits, I aim to provide daily updates.

What types of pets do you typically care for, and are there any animals you do not provide services for?

While I specialise in caring for cats, dogs, and rabbits, please note that I do not offer services for rodents or exotic pets.

What should I do if my plans change, and I need to come home earlier than expected during a house sit?

I understand that circumstances can change. If you find yourself needing to return home earlier than initially planned, please notify me with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. This allows me to make necessary arrangements, pack up and ensure a smooth transition, as I may have travelled to your location and settled in with my belongings. Your cooperation in providing advance notice is greatly appreciated.

Are you comfortable with security cameras in the home during a house sit?

While I have no objections to exterior security cameras for safeguarding the outside of your home during a house sit, I am not comfortable with interior cameras. The inside of your home becomes my private living space during the sit, and I value my privacy. I may need to have personal calls and engage in confidential conversations with clients. Therefore, I do not accept house sits with interior cameras installed and recommend disconnecting them before your departure. Rest assured that with a house sitter in place, interior security cameras are typically unnecessary. Your trust in my professionalism is greatly appreciated.

Are there any additional requirements or conditions for house sits?

Yes, one important requirement is the availability of a stable internet connection. As a marketing freelancer, I may need to work remotely from your home while caring for your pets and property. Having a reliable internet connection ensures I can meet my work commitments and provide the best possible care for your home and pets during the house sit. Your understanding of this necessity is greatly appreciated.

Do I need to provide food for you during a house sit?

No, you do not need to provide food for me during the house sit. I will bring my own food and supplies to ensure that I have everything I need during my stay.
